One day I heared two pieces of news from BBC, scientists said they could develop materials rendering people invisible, like the invisible cloak in the Harry Potter movies.
Another is that researchers at the university of California in Berkeley have developed a material that can bend light around 3D objects, making them “disappear”. The materials can not occur naturally but can be created on a nano sclae, being measured in billionths of a metre. They have also said the principles can be scaled up to make invisible cloaks large enough to hide people in future.
One professor named Hess said: “In order to have the Harry Potter effect, we need to find the right materials for the visible wavelengths, and it is absolutely thrilling to see we are on the right track.”
It sounds cool. In another side, what about the murderers, rapists and child snatchers who will probably use this to carry out their evil plans. It is a new technology or a threat to society?
